TP1 SRAM TIME ATAC®

  • More propulsion through more efficient use of pedaling power
  • Optimized movement sequence when pedaling minimizes discomfort
  • More direct power transmission and less leverage
When you consider the amount of energy transferred to the pedals via the feet and shoes when pedaling, you realize the importance of this contact point. The positioning of the cleats under the shoes makes a significant contribution to efficient and healthy pedaling. Even small deviations from the optimum position can impair the entire system from the hips to the pedals. The TP1 SRAM TIME ATAC® was specially designed for this type of pedal and helps to position the cleat efficiently and correctly in just a few steps. The tool with its precise and easy-to-use functionality is used by numerous professional teams and bike fitting specialists worldwide. The TP1 consists of a stencil, instructions and marking stickers. Cleats can not only be ergonomically adjusted, but also transferred to new shoes with no effort. Correctly fitted, you can avoid pressure points in the shoe, numb feet or knee pain, for example.

Straight Power Flow from Top to Bottom

When pedaling, the large leg muscles produce power for propulsion, which the bones and joints in the hips, knees and feet transmit to the pedals. The more this power flow is in line or, better still, level, the more efficient the entire movement process is. The foot position directly above the pedal axis plays a central role in this leg axis, which should be as vertical as possible.

Two correct Settings

Two different parameters can be varied when fitting with TP1 SRAM TIME ATAC®: The positioning of the foot in the direction of travel and the angle at which the tip of the foot is orientated forwards or outwards. With the TP1 tool, you can quickly determine two variables to suit your anatomy and transfer them to the cleat.

Power Transmission versus Comfort?

Efficient power transmission between foot and pedal and comfort in the cycling shoe are by no means mutually exclusive. If we look at the natural power transmission when walking and running, we realize, it only needs to be positioned correctly to ensure both comfort and efficiency. This even makes additional dampening or stiffening with extra insoles usually superfluous. The TP1 SRAM TIME ATAC® is the tool to achieve exactly that.

More than just fixing Foot Problems

A biomechanically incorrect or poor cleat configuration can not only lead to a general loss of performance, but also to a series of evasive movements, pain and, in the long term, increased joint wear. The symptoms range from unpleasant pressure points and burning in the feet, anatomically poor angles in the ankle joints, painful incorrect loading of the knees to pain in the hips or back. Many of these problems can be prevented.

Details

Anatomically unique Every foot needs its own Setup

Not the dimensions or shape of the shoes are decisive for the pressure curve when pedaling, it is the anatomy of the foot. For this reason, it is essential to individualize your cleat configuration, taking into account your foot shape, to ensure efficient and pain-free pedaling, especially in the long term.

New Shoe - same Riding Experience The TP1 Stencil is also used for Transfer

Transferring the individually optimized cleats to a new pair of cycling shoes almost always leads to slight deviations. Even a tenth of a millimeter or one degree can lead to out-of-tolerance results. Using the TP1 SRAM TIME ATAC® tool as a template, the position and alignment of both cleats can be transferred to the new pair with no deviation whatsoever.
