Ergon's ergonomics specialists have completely reworked women's saddles from scratch and to the smallest detail. Utilizing X-ray and CT scans as well as cutting edge technology – we’ve created a new generation of women’s ergonomic saddles for gravel and road. Countless prototypes have been produced, and hundreds of hours of testing by professional and amateur riders have gone into the development of this saddle – so you can enjoy a beyond better ride.
Women are much more flexible in the hips than men. In the typical riding position on road and all-road bikes, a women’s pelvis frequently tilts more forward. This can often create considerable pressure in the genital area. With a wider relief channel positioned more forward on the SRS Sport Gel Women, pressure is directed away from the sensitive genital area onto the supportive sit bone area of the saddle where the gel inserts absorb the pressure peaks to deliver enhanced support and comfort
Due to anatomical reasons, the pubic symphysis – the front cartilage connection between the two halves of the pelvis – is approximately a quarter lower in women than in men. The angle between the pubic bones is also greater in women. These anatomical factors were accounted for in the development of the SRS Sport Gel Women to guarantee a natural sitting position and ergonomic comfort.
Saddles that are not ergonomically designed specifically for a women’s anatomy can produce uncomfortable pressure and pain in the genital area. The SRS Sport Gel Women is specially designed to protect this sensitive area: the forward positioned relief opening prevents discomfort, numbness and pain by effectively transferring pressure to the supportive sit bones.
The shape and size of a saddle's surface must match the cyclist's sit bone width for the best comfort and support. As the pelvic bones taper forward in a V-shape, an ergonomic saddle must support the sit bones comfortably in varying riding positions. For a better personalized fit and a comfortable ride, Ergon offers the SRS Sport Gel Women in two sizes (S/M and M/L).
The SRS Sport Gel Women’s compact ergonomic shape, pressure relieving surface and wider inner leg radius has been designed for the more relaxed riding position used on modern endurance road bikes. This reduces saddle edge pressure on the inner thigh for less pedaling friction, more leg mobility, and increased blood circulation. The position and shape of the relief channel have also been optimized for the saddle’s compact shape. Although shorter in length, the SRS Sport Gel Women offers maximum relief in midsection with an ergonomically optimized surface designed to evenly distribute pressure for enhanced comfort and support. Additionally, it prevents nerves aside the saddle from receiving too much pressure, which may cause cold or numb feet.
Intensive measurements and feedback evaluation from test riders led us to extend the relief channel of the SRS Sport Gel Women further towards the saddle nose. This recess is specially shaped and positioned for a women’s anatomy to remove pressure from the genital area in a typical riding position and when the rider's pelvis tilts further forward in an aero position. The riders weight is always comfortably supported on the sit bones – never on the very sensitive genital area.
When cycling, most of your body weight rests on the small saddle surface. To prevent discomfort in the sensitive genital area, the SRS Sport Gel Women uses anatomical gel pad insets to distribute pressure evenly over the sit bones. The main padding is made of orthopedic comfort foam, which provides an equallized pressure distribution, comfort and support over the entire saddle surface.
The TiNox XL rails used in the SRS Sport Gel Women weigh less for excellent performance, but mainly they stand for stability and durability even on rough roads. This means you sit more securely and comfortably no matter the road’s surface.
The biomechanical reference line (BMR line) is marked on the SRS Sport Gel Women for convenience when installing or adjusting the saddle position. The BMR line is the point at which the saddle is exactly 75 Millimeters wide. Once a rider has found the optimal seating position or during a bike fitting process, the BMR line becomes an important reference for the precise adjustment of saddle height, setback and angle. Our Fitting Box Road/Gravel also uses the BMR line as an important reference point.
The SRS Sport Gel Women is manufactured entirely in Europe. This guarantees the best workmanship and materials, shorter supply chain and lowwaste production with an effective recycling path – these are the advantages of a saddle made in Europe. Better for you and the environment!
