The Ergon development team knows that sweating the small details results in better performance. Excessive saddle pressure on the extremely sensitive perineal area in men leads to numbness. The genitals, on the other hand, can avoid this direct pressure and are not a source of pain. The SRS Men supports the rearward pressure load that occurs when cycling in a more relaxed upright road riding position. Using MRI and CT analysis, endless prototypes and test riding, pressure distribution is perfectly adapted for the male anatomy. The rider’s weight is comfortably supported by the sit bones while soft tissue is effectively relieved.
On average, the male pelvis is tilted slightly back on the saddle compared to women. This is due to less flexibility of men and increased muscle tension between the torso and hips. If not in a low racing position weight is positioned on the sit bones. By increasing the radius from the saddle middle to the nose we’ve created more space for the thighs against the sides of the saddle. This enhanced Y-shape reduces friction and additional pressure on the nerves and blood vessels in the legs.
The pubic bones of men are much steeper compared to the female anatomy. The pubic symphysis is also significantly higher. These anatomical differences were integrated during the development of the SRS Comp, which makes its gender specific relief channel, shape and padding so effective for men.
Proper distribution of saddle pressure is the key to the best possible comfort. The goal is to protect the sensitive perineal area by moving pressure to the supporting sit bones and pubic arch – exactly how the relief surface works in our saddles. Because of the upright position of the male pelvis, especially for more relaxed riding, we’ve kept the saddle surface flat for enhanced freedom of movement. Our high-quality orthopaedic foam padding perfectly distributes pressure while enhancing support.
Both the shape and the size of a saddle must match the rider's personal sit bone width. As your pelvic bones converge in a V-shape towards the front, the saddle must provide a sufficiently large contact area for the sit bones – especially in different seated positions. Our saddle sizes are designed so the contact area perfectly matches the width between the sit bones – whether you sit more upright or have a lower riding position.
The SRS Comp Men is a compact road bike saddle designed for comfort and performance in a more upright, endurance-oriented riding style. It's perfect for endurance road bikes where riders often favor gripping the hoods or top of the handlebars. Tailored for male anatomy, the rider’s seated. pressure is directed to the supporting sit bones rather than onto the nose. The saddles rear is specially cushioned while the middle and front are narrower to provide more legroom and a sleeker profile. Despite its compact size, the SRS Comp alleviates common issues such as nerve or vein compression in the legs.
In keeping with the endurance riding position and rearward pressure bias, the relief channel at the front of the saddle is more subtle. In contrast, the mid-to-rear section features a deeper, more defined channel that provides targeted relief for the perineal area. A small opening at the rear of the channel delivers the full benefits of pressure relief without the need for a full-cutout and overly stiff saddle shell. This thoughtful design effectively reduces pressure on the perineal region— preventing discomfort and numbness in the genital area.
Pressure distribution and cushioning along the seat are two of the biggest problems on a road bike. Saddles that are too hard, long riding times and hardly any damping effect from the frame and tires cause discomfort and pressure points and even numbness. The orthopaedic foam in the SRS Comp is designed to be comfortably firm and provides excellent long-distance comfort with its top pressure distribution and shock absorption. The material is also lighter and more durable than gel pads.
The slight rise at the rear of the saddle provides a stable platform for the glutes — especially effective when the rider lowers their riding posture or tackles steep climbs. While the SRS saddle isn't specifically designed for an aggressive aero position, its shape supports powerful acceleration by keeping the rider securely positioned. Additionally, the smooth rear rise plays a key role in maintaining pressure relief for the perineum and genital areas.
Although the SRS Comp Men is designed with value in mind, it doesn't compromise on weight. Thanks to its lightweight TiNox XP rails, the saddle weighs just 250 grams in size S/M and 270 grams in M/L. Despite its low weight, the structure is exceptionally strong and stable, supporting riders up to 120 kilograms—offering a solid margin of durability and reliability.
The discreet Biomechanical Reference Line (BMR) on the SRS Comp indicates the exact meridian where the saddle measures 75 millimeters in width. This standardized point is widely used by professional bike fitters and Ergon’s Fitting Box tools, serving as a consistent reference for accurately positioning the saddle.
Premium construction, top-grade materials, a short supply chain, and low-waste manufacturing with an efficient recycling process — these are the advantages of a saddle made in Europe. Better for your ride and better for the environment.
